37 acres of a new woodland located at Madogue, Charlestown was officially opened today.
The “Martin Neary Woodland”, located between Charlestown and Swinford, was officially opened by the Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity, Pippa Hackett.
A 78-year-old local man, Martin Neary, bequeathed his farm holding to the people of Mayo for the purpose of developing the facility.
“The Martin Neary Woodland”, with the expertise of Mayo County Council and the Western Forestry Co-Op has planted the woodland with native trees.
