The second anniversary Mass takes place today of the late Argentine Ambassador to Ireland, Laura Bernal, in St Michael Church in Foxford at 12 noon.
The Papal Nuncio Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo will be the chief celebrant.
Laura Bernal, a native of Buenos Aires served as Argentina's Ambassador to Ireland from 2016 until her sudden death in 2020. She died at her Dublin home in April, 2020 having contracted Covid 19.
She had been a regular visitor to Foxford as a guest of the Admiral Brown Society in the town, because of the strong links between Foxford and Argentina, as the Founder of the Argentine Navy, Admiral William Brown was born in Foxford in the 18th century.
At the request of her sister and due to the pandemic, when Ms Bernal died her body was not repatriated. Her funeral took place on the 15th May, 2020, at St Michael's Church in Foxford.
She is buried in Craggagh Cemetery, just outside the town.
