The most expensive house sold in Mayo in the first quarter of this year went for €470,000.

A report in the Irish Independent shows a 30% increase in the space of a year in the number of homes in Dublin selling for over €1 million.

Nationally, there was a 10% hike in the number of €1 million euro-plus house sales - mainly in the south and east of the country.

There were no homes sold in the million euro bracket in Mayo, Roscommon or Sligo.

In this region, the top-priced Mayo house sold in the first three months of this year was at The Laurels , Prospect Avenue in Westport with a €470,000 price tag.

In Galway, the top priced house sold this year was at Taylor's Hill Road, and sold for €1.4 million, while in Sligo a house at Ocean Links, Strandhill went for €550,000.

The most expensive house sold in Roscommon yet this year was at The Rise, Kiltoom near Athlone, and went for €380,000.

44 houses in Dublin were sold for over a million euro in the first 3 months of this year, with the top sale worth €12 million.
