Ballyglass Coast Guard volunteers, along with Rescue 118 were tasked yesterday evening by MRSC Malin following a request from the National Ambulance Service.
A hill walker had sustained lower leg injuries while out on the Carrowteige loop walk.
The accident happened approximately 2km from the main road.
Emergency services had to track across the bog land to reach the casualty. Rescue 118 landed close by.
The casualty was assessed by the paramedics on scene, before being taken by stretcher and loaded onto the helicopter.
The casualty was airlifted to hospital for further treatment.
This was the second call out for R118, earlier the crew were tasked to airlift a casualty off Croagh Patrick and transferred to Mayo General Hospital.
They then carried out a refuel in Blacksod before heading to their second incident.
