The Chair of the Galway Vintners has welcomed the easing of restrictions as ‘fantastic news for everyone in rural Ireland’.

Joe Sheridan of Walsh’ Bar in Dunmore says it’s time for businesses and society to repair and get back to a new normal.

The Fianna Fail Councillor has pointed out that there are some minor restrictions on businesses remaining, like masks wearing for workers in retail and hospitality.

However, he admits that with the removal of Covid certs and social distancing, a quarter of the additional workload on premises has been lifted.

The Dunmore publican also stressed that hospitality businesses will still need supports from Government in the short term.

Joe Sheridan told Midwest News that those attending pubs and restaurants this evening should exercise patience with hospitality workers.
