40 percent of Covid patients in Irish hospitals are unvaccinated and the group is "significantly over represented" in people who need ventilation.

According to a survey by the Infectious Diseases Society of Ireland, 32 percent of unvaccinated patients require oxygen support this week, compared with 8 percent of those who've received the jab.

The IDSI's analysis says the findings reflect the "significantly less severe" impact of Omicron than previous waves.
