Mayo Senator Lisa Chambers has been appointed to a new Northern Ireland and Good Friday Agreement Committee, being set up by Taoiseach Míchéal Martin.

A group of just eight TDs and Senators have been asked to sit on this specialist committee, which will oversee the renewal and future development of Fianna Fail's policy on Northern Ireland.

Senator Chambers told Midwest News that it's an honour and privilege to be asked to sit on this specialist committee, and says there's a desire within Fianna Fail to focus on the next chapter of peace on his island, and the continued implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.
