Supreme Court judge, Mr Justice Séamus Woulfe, has told the Golfgate trial that he didn't see anything at the event that evening that gave him cause for concern.

He was giving evidence at the trial of two politicians and two hoteliers, who were accused of orgainising an event which allegedly breached lockdown regulations.

Justice Woulfe was one of 81 people who attended the Oireachtas Golf Society's President's dinner at the Clifden Station House Hotel on August 19th 2020.

He said he was assured that the President of the society, former FF Senator Donie Cassidy, consulted with authorities beforehand to ensure Covid compliance.

At the time, indoor events were limited to fifty people, but he said the guidelines allowed for multiple gatherings in clearly defined spaces with correct systems.

Yesterday, the prosecuting barrister said it was his case that this was a single event.

Mr Cassidy, Independent TD Noel Grealish and two hoteliers are all accused of organising the event in contravention of Covid laws.

The hearing will resume on February 3rd.
