New car sales in Co Mayo last year were up by almost 13% on the previous year, with 1,850 new cars registered in Mayo in 2021.
That's according to the latest report from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, which shows a 13% increase in new cars registered also in Galway, 18% in Roscommon and almost 15% in Sligo.
Leitrim was the only Connacht county where new car sales fell last year compared to 2020.
Nationally, there was an 18% increase in the number of new cars registered year-on-year, but represent a 10% decrease on 2019 - before the Covid pandemic hit.
