A status yellow ice and temperature warning remains in place across the country this morning.

Met Eireann expect widespread frost and icy stretches to impact the country until 10am with temperatures  as low as minus 3 in many areas.

After a frosty start, today will be mostly dry with some sunny spells and just isolated showers.

Cold with temperatures just 3-6 degrees.

Frost and ice will set in quickly after dark again tonight, with temperatures dipping to between zero and minus 2, while outbreaks of rain will push in from the Atlantic later in the night, and winds will strengthen.

Wintry showers are forecast for tomorrow, with falls of sleet or snow possible in some areas by evening.
