The HSE must open walk-in Covid-19 test centres across the region to keep up with demand for PCR testing.

That’s the call from Galway City Fine Gael Councillor Eddie Hoare has called on the HSE to reopen the testing centre in Forster Street.

A walk in test centre was based there in the earlier stages of the pandemic but it was closed in September.

A test centre is currently open at Galway Airport but appointments there are difficult to get due to the substantial increase in Covid cases over the Christmas period.

Councillor Eddie Hoare told Midwest News that he is calling on the HSE to open up walk-in Covid test centres urgently.
