Two homeowners from Mayo will brief members of the European Parliament in Brussels on Ireland’s defective concrete blocks crisis on Wednesday.

The delegation will include two Mayo pyrite victims – Loren Devers and Julie Tracey – along with counterparts from Co Donegal where the mineral mica is the chief contaminant in defective concrete blocks.

The trip has been facilitated by MEP Luke Ming Flanagan and colleagues in conjunction with the campaign for 100% redress for those whose homes have been impacted by blockwork contaminated with minerals like pyrite and mica that can result in cracking and collapse.

They depart for Brussels tomorrow (Tuesday Nov 30th) and Loren Devers from Ballina has been telling Midwest News that this is a great opportunity to highlight their case to MEPs.
