As covid numbers continue to surge, and people tend to acquire general cold and flu symptoms over the winter months, it becomes increasingly difficult for people to know what they should do on any given day that they feel a bit of a head cold , a sore throat or a runny nose.

The Public health advise, states if you feel unwell immediately isolate and book a PCR Covid test.

But with the prevalence now of antigen tests, and their introduction to schools and workplaces, many are asking themselves if they are just feeling "a little under the weather", would it be enough to take an antigen test.

It can all get rather confusing, when to take an antigen test /PCR test.

Dr. Regina Kiernan is a specialist in Public Health Medicine with the HSE and she’s been speaking to Midwest News Editor Teresa O'Malley about the confusion for many over the need for a PCR test versus an antigen test..
