The way antigen testing is being set up in schools is ‘shambolic’, according to the Principal of Scoil Iosa primary school in Ballyhaunis.
Principal Kenneth Dennedy believes that the rapid covid-19 tests should be administered directly to the schools themselves.
Under the plans published last week, the HSE will send the antigen tests to the parents of the students deemed close contacts through the postal service.
Parents must carry out three antigen tests over five days and the child can continue to attend school as long as they remain asymptomatic and their antigen test doesn’t detect Covid.
Principal of Scoil Iosa Kenneth Dennedy told Midwest News that primary schools don’t yet have any great guidance on antigen testing.
