A medical evacuation took place last night off one of the Aran Islands off Co Galway.
The volunteer crew of Aran Islands RNLI were asked to launch the all-weather Severn class lifeboat at 8.17pm by the Irish Coast Guard.
A resident on the neighbouring Island of Inis Meáin was in need of further medical attention.
The lifeboat launched under Coxswain John O'Donnell and a full crew and headed straight for Inis Meáin.
Once at the pier, the crew brought the patient safely aboard and headed for Rossaveal Harbour, where the patient was transferred into the care of the waiting ambulance crew and brought to hospital.
