The Killala native who died following a road collision in Mexico earlier this week will be laid to rest on Wednesday next.

Ambrose Blaine, Rusheens, Killala, is survived by his wife Anne and daughters Aoibhín, Niamh & Anna Rose.  

The 55 year old pilot was originally from Killala but had been living in Malahide and worked in a consultancy capacity for Turkish airlines.

The road collision occurred on Monday morning last in Mexico It is believed Mr Blaine suffered severe head injuries.

He and three Irish companions were biking the Baja Peninsula as part of a journey, begun in 2016 and which was taking them in stages annually from southern Argentina to Alaska, travelling the Pan-American Highway.

It is understood Mr Blaine and the others had left their overnight accommodation early on Monday and were going for coffee when the crash happened.

His remains will be reposing at McGowan's Funeral Home, Ballina on Tuesday evening from 3:30pm until 5pm.

Funeral will arrive to St Muredach's Cathedral, Ballina on Wednesday morning for 11am requiem mass at with funeral proceeding to Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin arriving for 3.45pm.
