Somers Park in Castlerea has received 250,000 euro in Outdoor Performance and Public Space funding from the Government.

This investment has been welcomed by Fianna Fail councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice, who says the project will go to Part 8 planning within the next two weeks.

The project will see the construction of a stage area, covered dome, permanent seating for over 100 seats, paved areas and much more.

The Castlerea Festival committee was one of the many stakeholders involved in this application and have equipment for an outdoor cinema and other live events.

Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice told Midwest News that he hopes to see many live events taking place at the facility in 2022.
