Over €49,000 has been announced for three Mayo projects under the LGBTI+ Community Services Fund.

That’s according to Fine Gael TD Michael Ring, who says the call came from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.

The projects being funded in Mayo are as follows:-

There’s just over 34,000 euro for the Ballinrobe Family Resource Centre for their project Mayo, An LGBTI+ Friendly Community, Mayo Pride gets 8,500 euro for the Unity in the Community initiative and Outwest receive Over 6,000 for their Social Inclusion project.

The National LGBTI+ Inclusion Strategy 2019-2021 adopted by Government and launched in November 2019, provides a whole-of-Government framework for identifying and addressing issues which may prevent LGBTI+ people from enjoying full equality in practice in Irish society.

Deputy Ring told Midwest News he welcomes this funding, which he says will support existing LGBTI+ community organisations and services across the county.
