A forensics expert says identifying childrens' remains at Tuam would likely take years.

Survivors and relatives of those who died at the former mother and baby home have called for the Co. Galway site to be excavated.

The site has been controversial following research that almost 800 babies were buried in the area at an unmarked mass grave.

Speaking at the AGSI annual conference, consultant anthropologist René Gapert says excavation would be a slow process.
