Broadcaster Mary Kennedy and singer / songwriter Brendan Graham are to be honoured in Cong next weekend, as they're awarded the Cong Hands of Fame Award, and the Freedom of Cong.

Next Sunday will see the unveiling of an impression of their hands in bronze, at a ceremony which Mary and Brendan will attend.

Previous recipients of the award include the late Big Tom, Daniel O'Donnell, Matt Molloy, John Sheahan and Ryan Tubridy, for touching the world in positive ways, and advancing the name of Ireland at home and abroad.

Also on Sunday in Cong, a new sculpture will be unveiled called "Hands Around the World" - which is dedicated to all front-line staff for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The piece was carved out of timber by local man Tommy Kerrigan, and will be unveiled by Séan Keane, who has recorded some of Brendan Graham's songs.
