The delivery of an urgently needed new sewage treatment plant for Newport has been pushed out to 2025 and the Chairman of Newport Development Company Martin Dillane told Midwest News today that it's very disappointing.

Raw sewage is being pumped into the river at Newport and out into Clew Bay.

This evening Irish Water has apologised to the community for the further delay but say it's due to a protracted planning process.
