Forestry representatives are protesting outside Government buildings today over a backlog in tree-felling licenses.

The Social, Economic, Environmental Forestry Association says if the issue isn't resolved, the industry's facing significant job losses, and is calling on the Taoiseach to intervene.

There are currently over 1,000 afforestation licenses, and thousands of felling licences awaiting decision, and Mayo Fianna Fail Senator Lisa Chambers says the crisis is having a direct impact on timber supply, and driving up the price of timberĀ  - making it more expensive to build new homes.

Senator Chambers says people the licence backlog has led to a crisis in the industry, and she's calling on the Minister responsible, Pippa Hackett, to find a solution urgently....
