Mayo native Anne Kavanagh has been named ‘Solicitor of the Year – Private Practice’ by the Law Society of England and Wales.
The Ballina woman, who is a Partner with the Irwin Mitchell firm in Sheffield, won the award for her work with women and children injured through pregnancy, obstetric or gynaecological treatment.
Anne is a former student of Garracloon National School and St Mary’s Secondary School, Ballina.
The judges noted that ‘she has made a significant impact on the women and families she has supported and will continue to have an impact because of the judgements made.
The judges felt that in an area of work that rarely has the spotlight, our winner’s achievements are highly deserving of recognition.
She has brought about positive changes not only for her clients but society at large.’
