Farmers from across Connacht will converge in Roscommon Town this morning (Friday) for a rally organised by the IFA.

This is one of four regional rallies being held today in Cavan, Roscommon, Portlaoise and Cork, to protest against CAP cuts, climate change and nitrates measures, as well as suckler and dairy cow limits.

Farmers will meet at the Dr Hyde centre in Roscommon and make their way to the Department of Agriculture offices in the town.

IFA President Tim Cullinane will address the farmers taking part in the rally, and says the protest will move to Dublin if the Government fails to respond to its call for direct negotiations.

Roscommon IFA Chairman Jim O'Connor has been telling Midwest Radio's Paula Donnellan about today's event....
