A special Mass will be held at Knock Shrine next month in memory of all who died on the island of Ireland during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The issue was discussed this week at the Irish Catholic Bishops' Conference in Maynooth, where the bishops reflected on the heartbreak suffered by many thousands of families in this country who experienced the death of a loved one during the pandemic.
Bishops acknowledged the additional distress caused by Covid restrictions, which has limited the number of people who could mourn together over the past year and a half.
On Sunday 14th November, the Bishops of Ireland will undertake a pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine in Knock and will concelebrate Mass at 3pm for all who have died during the pandemic, and for their families.
Prayers will also be offered for all who selflessly sacrificed so much during the pandemic.
The Mass will be live-streamed on www.knockshrine.ie and broadcast on RTE News Now digital television channel and online.
