Roscommon County Council has confirmed that the council offices in Castlerea, Ballaghadereen and Strokestown will remain closed to the public.
The council offices were closed to the public during the Covid-19 lockdowns and were expected to reopen, but at yesterday's council meeting, Chief Executive Eugene Cummins said most people use online methods to interact with council staff, and there was low public interaction at these three offices.
The decision to close the offices to the public has been criticised by a number of councillors.
Castlerea-based Fianna Fail Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says people should have access to council staff in their local area, rather than having to travel to Roscommon Town.
