The HSE says there's been a 20% reduction in the number of people coming forward for a Covid test over the past three days.
It comes as new rules surrounding testing for children come into effect from today.
Children under the age of 12 no longer have to restrict their movements if they're a close contact of someone with Covid in school, but have no symptoms.
Meanwhile, a pop-up test centre is open in Ballina again today and tomorrow.
With increased case numbers in the north Mayo region, people who do NOT have symptoms but would like to be tested can book a free test.
The tests are by appointment only, and can be booked through the HSE's self-referral online portal, while GPs can also refer patients for tests.
The pop-up test centre will be open until 5pm this evening and again from 11am to 5pm tomorrow at the Ballina Stephenites Grounds on Lord Edward Street in Ballina.
