Gardai have dealt with an average of nearly 100 domestic abuse incidents every day this year.

New figures show 24,686 domestic abuse incidents were reported to the gardai between the start of this year and September 9th.

These include a variety of offences, such as violence and breach of a barring order.

Over a third of the incidents were in the Dublin region, involving just under 9,000 cases.
