It’s ridiculous exams allowing doctors from other jurisdictions to work in Ireland have not resumed yet, given staff shortages at facilities across the west.
That’s the view of Tuam Aontu representative Luke Peter Silke, who is highlighting the situation of an Indian doctor in the town.
She had signed up for the Be On Call for Ireland recruitment drive at the start of the pandemic, but was refused as she needed to complete the Pres level 3 medical exams.
These exams were postponed at the start of the public health emergency and it was revealed to Aontu in a Parliamentary Question that there is still no timeframe for their resumption.
Aontu are calling for the Medical Council, the HSE and the Minister for Health to convene a meeting as a matter of urgency to resume these exams.
Aontu member Luke Peter Silke told Midwest News it’s ridiculous these exams were paused during the pandemic.
