There's a significant increase in the number of patients on trolleys at Mayo University Hospital over the past 24 hours.
The latest figures from the INMO show 24 patients on trolleys today at the Castlebar hospital -compared to 11 yesterday and 5 on Monday.
Nationally there are 396 patients on hospital trolleys - including 19 at Sligo University Hospital and 31 at University Hospital Galway.
This is down from over 50 on trolleys at the Galway hospital over the past 2 days.
However, hospital management say they're continuing to deal with a significant number of patients presenting to the Emergency Department, many of whom remain there waiting for a bed.
UGH is also postponing a number of elective procedures, due to a lack of bed capacity, and patients are being contacted directly if their procedure is being postponed.
