The Saolta Hospital Group is urging people to only attend Galway University Hospital if absolutely necessary.
It's due to the high number of patients with Covid-19. There are 32 patients being treated for the virus in the hospital. That’s the highest in the country.
1,866 new cases of the virus were detected in the Republic yesterday, with 314 covid patients in hospitals nationally, including 61 in ICUs.
Saolta Chief Clinical Director, Pat Nash says Galway University hospital is under pressure.
