€2.6 million has been announced this morning for capital works at Mayo University Hospital.
Mayo Fianna Fail Senator Lisa Chambers says the Minister for Health has announced the significant funding for four capital projects at the hospital.
The works include:
-€2.1m for an electrical upgrade
-€100,000 for expansion of the Emergency Department and Medical Assessment Unit
-€30,000 for reconfiguration and upgrade of the Hospital Sterile Services Department
-€100,000 for the preparation of a Development Control Plan.
In addition, funding of €20,000 has been approved for the refurbishment of two High Support Community Residences in Castlebar- An Coilin and Teach Aisling, to facilitate the appropriate accommodation of nine residents in three units.
