Work began yesterday on the construction of a new €22 million residential care unit in Tuam.
The new high-dependency unit is being built on the site of the Old Grove Hospital in Tuam, and is expected to be completed in 2023.
Tuam-based Councillor Donagh Killilea says this project will create over 200 jobs when completed.
He's also remembering the late Helen and Joe O'Toole from Tuam who made a significant private donation for this unit, and Councillor Killilea will be calling on the HSE, at their next regional forum meeting, for the new facility to be named after the O'Tooles.
He's been speaking with Paula Donnellan about the long campaign to have this residential care unit built in Tuam.
