Ross beach in Killala has reopened to swimmers.

Mayo County Council says the temporary Do Not Swim notice in place at Ross beach has been removed this afternoon, following satisfactory results from a water sample taken on Saturday.

Head of Environment at Mayo County Council Martin Keating is again appealing to dog owners to clean after bringing their dogs onto beaches, and to campervan users to dispose of their waste responsibly to protect the bathing water quality.

A similar Do Not Swim notice at Bertra beach in Westport was removed last Friday.
