Following visits to Charlestown, Ballina and Castlebar yesterday evening, the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Gaeltacht & Sport Jack Chambers has a number of engagements in Co Mayo today.
The Minister starts this morning with visits to Blacksod Lighhouse, the Naíonra in Aughleam and Colaiste Uisce, and will also visit the Belmullet Gteic.
As well as visiting GAA clubs in Glenamoy and The Neale, Minister Chambers will officially open the new Digital and Innovation hub in Achill.
Gteic Achill is part of a network of 31 such hubs with high-speed broadband being developed by Udarás na Gaeltachta across the country's Gaeltacht regions.
There are already two companies and a number of individuals working from the hub, and Udarás says the facility provides opportunities for entrepreneurs, remote workers and those on staycations.
Minister Jack Chambers told Midwest News this morning that these gteic hubs will provide opportunities for many rural areas.....
