Following a spike in cases in Roscommon Town, a  ‘pop-up’ COVID-19 test centre opens in the county town this morning, for 2 days.

Free tests are offered without appointment from 11:00am to 05:00pm at the Roscommon Arts Centre on Circular Road in Roscommon today and tomorrow.

Dr. Breda Smyth, Director of Public Health Medicine HSE West says there's been an increase in COVID cases in the Roscommon town area in recent weeks, while the emergence and increased transmissibility of the delta variant among cases nationally is of great concern.

She's urging anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19 through social networks and who do NOT have symptoms to avail of a free COVID test at the pop-up centre.

Anyone presenting for a walk-in test must bring photo ID and provide a mobile phone number to get their test results.

It's also possible for people to make their own appointment for testing at the fulltime Covid-19 test centre in Castlerea, by logging onto the HSE self-referral portal.
