200,000 people are set to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 up to two months early, according to a Government minister.
It's due to the accelerated programme, which will allow 18 to 34 year olds get a Johnson and Johnson vaccine in a pharmacy from Monday.
The HSE says there's been a 'phenomenal response' since the announcement was made yesterday.
Minister of State for Public Procurement, Ossian Smyth says it will speed up the rollout considerably.
Pharmacists say they were overwhelmed with calls yesterday when it was announced that people in this age group can avail of the one-shot vaccine, but are warning that they have limited supplies.
Over 20 Mayo pharmacists are involved in the scheme, and list of participating pharmacies is on the HSE website.
