The Department of Health last night confirmed an additional 329 cases of Covid-19.

57 people are currently being treated with the illness in hospital, 19 of those are in intensive care.

Health officials say the daily case numbers could change in future due to date review, validation and update.

Meanwhile, the National Public Health Emergency Team says it's not opposed to the use of antigen testing for international travel.

However NPHET told the Oireachtas Transport Committee yesterday that it would need to be presented with scientific evidence that proved the validity of the tests in aviation before it could recommend their use.

It also said there's no evidence to support claims that antigen testing is more effective than PCR testing for travel.
