Funding has been secured for the Community Playground at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar.
Fine Gael deputy Alan Dillon says the funding was awarded under the Local Authorities Play & Recreation Capital Grant scheme and will form part of a wider investment in outdoor spaces for Children’s play and learning.
A key criteria of the scheme is that proposed projects must be accessible and inclusive for all children.

Funding has also been secured for playgrounds by Galway county council in Tuam, Loughrea and Ballinasloe, under this scheme, according to councillor Donagh Killilea
A grant of €30,000 has been awarded for refurbishment works to the 3 playgrounds – Palace Grounds, Tuam, Gort Rd, Loughrea and St Micheal’s, Ballinasloe.
While Galway city council has secured similar funding for two new installations in the city - a wheelchair accessible swing at Claude Toft Park, Salthill and a Sensory Garden at the Children's Millennium Park in the city.
