Under the Community Heritage Grant Scheme, €36,500 has been allocated to six community groups and not-for-profit organisations in Mayo.
€1,680 has been granted to the Straide Community Development Group to prepare a biodiversity plan for the village, while the The Ballinglen Museum of Art was awarded €6,632.
Coiste Oidreachta Iorrais gets €3,600 for a historic quay and sea wall assessment to decide on the best approach to safeguard and conserve the historic maritime fabric of Belmullet.
River Moy Search and Rescue Ballina secured 4,400 euro under the scheme, the Old Irish Goat Society 15,000 euro and Belcarra Tidy Towns 5,200.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien announced €1.2 million for community groups and not-for-profit organisations across Ireland.
It follows on from an award of €374,599 made to community heritage projects in April 2021.
