€818,000 in funding has been allocated to local authorities across Connacht to support community groups impacted by Covid-19.
There’s €145,000 for Mayo, €143,000 for Galway County, €132000 for Galway City, €133,000 for Roscommon, €134,000 for Sligo and €129,000 for Leitrim.
The 2021 Community Enhancement Programme will provide small grants to assist with reopening facilities like community centres, men’s sheds, parish halls and youth centres.
The grants range from hundreds of euro up to €10,000, but exceptions can be made depending on applications.
The funding will help groups complete the necessary repairs and renovation work needed to reopen.
The relatively small nature of the grants mean they may appeal to groups ineligible for the Covid Stability Fund.
The department is not setting a national closing date in order to allow flexibility, but Local Community Development Committee’s must ensure the date is no later than July 16th.
