Restauranteurs have sharply criticised the Government’s reopening plan for the hospitality sector.
Under the plan for easing restrictions hotels can reopen with indoor dining for residents from June 2nd, while other hospitality outlets will be allowed to reopen with outdoor dining only from June 7th.
No date has been set for the resumption of wider indoor dining apart from within hotels.
The Restaurants Association of Ireland reacted with “disbelief, confusion and frustration” to the plan and accused Government of dividing the hospitality sector.
Meanwhile, Roscommon Independent TD Denis Naughten has proposed that the licence fees for outdoor dining should be waived for five years to support businesses hardest hit by the pandemic.
