A clothes retailer in Galway did not go ahead with their planned reopening in breach of public health restrictions this afternoon.
Lanidor of Eyre Street in the city were due to reopen to take a stand against large multiple shops, which they claim were selling non-essential items like clothes, in breach of current guidelines.
They were due to reopen to the public at 1 o’clock this afternoon, but they kept their doors closed following a request from local Gardaí.
Dave McCarthy is a financial consultant and director of the firm that owns Lanidor and he says there is inequity in the law at present.
He told Midwest News it’s not fair that large multiples can continue to sell clothes throughout the restrictions, while fashion retailers are forced to remain closed.
