A gorse fire in Co Mayo is now burning across ten kilometres of bogland -- making it the third major wildfire burning on the island this weekend.

A major blaze which broke out in Killarney National Park last night is still spreading towards the Gap of Dunloe, having burned through an ancient oak forest earlier.

And firefighters in the North say their work to quench a blaze on the Mournes has drawn in crews from across the Six Counties.

They say the major incident will continue into a third day.

Mick Power, National Estates Risk Manager with Coillte, says air support will come to Pontoon, in Co Mayo first thing tomorrow.
