A Claremorris florist is making national headlines at present thanks to the generosity of a neighbouring Garden Centre, that has provided a location for her business to trade from during the present Level 5 Covid Lockdown.
Aisling Warde of Blathanna Florists, Claremorris, took to social media at the start of the present lockdown, as she was witnessing customers allowed to buy bunches of flowers in grocery stores, while flower shops – like hers, were forced to close.
She says while she tried to keep her business going online, with click and collect services also ruled out, it was exceptionally difficult to survive. These are traditionally very busy months for florists with Valentine’s and Mother’s Day and Easter as well as general birthdays and anniversary celebrations all requiring flowers.
James Kean of Keans Claremorris Euronics Home & Garden Centre read of Aisling’s plight on twitter and offered his premises as a location that she could trade from, while adhering to Covid Restrictions.
The offer allowed Aisling and her staff to continue working, and she says they are all very grateful to James.
