It is of vital importance that Michael O'Brien from the Neale is commemorated on the Centenary of the Tourmakeady Ambush on May 3rd.
That's the view of Fianna Fail Councillor Damien Ryan who says the opportunity can't be missed to recognise and honour the ultimate sacrifice that was made by Michael O'Brien and the many other south Mayo volunteers.
Cllr. Ryan says that these volunteers were the engineers and architects of the world that we live in today.
He says a meaningful commemoration within the current guidelines will take place in May.
