
Homeowners impacted by Pyrite are being forced to rebuild their homes before being eligible to qualify for the Sustainable Energy Agency of Ireland (SEAI) energy grants for homes.
There are a number of homeowners in Mayo, Sligo and Donegal dealing with the problems of pyrite.
Independent Ballina councillor Mark Duffy says it would make more sense if the homeowners affected could receive the energy grants during the reconstruction stage of their re-builds.
At this Monday’s monthly meeting of Mayo County Council cllr Duffy is calling for a policy change from SEAI in relation to energy grants for home-owners affected by Pyrite.
