Mayo County Council is warning the public that gritted roads do not guarantee ice free roads.
Road Safety Officer Noel Gibbons has issued the warning as snow and ice conditions cause trying conditions for road users.
He has urged motorists making essential journeys to work tomorrow to give themselves plenty of time to reach their destination.
The advice is to clear the body, windscreen and lights of your vehicle from snow before you depart.
Mayo County Council's Road Safety Officer Noel Gibbons told Midwest News that the authority's gritting teams will be busy over the coming days.
