The Taoiseach says Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions will continue into February.
Michéal Martin told his parliamentary party last night that the case numbers remain too high.
It comes as a further 61 deaths and 2,488 new cases have been reported -148 new cases in Galway, 87 in Mayo, 25 in Sligo, 12 in Roscommon and 6 in Leitrim.
Mayo has recorded 2,023 new cases over the past fortnight, with 2,688 in Galway.
Mayo remains the only Connacht county with a 14-day incidence rate above the national average.
Meanwhile latest figures show that - across the country - there's 1,923 people with the disease in hospital, including 210 in ICU.
The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet later to consider the current situation, and Cabinet will make a final decision on restrictions on Tuesday.
