Legal advice is expected shortly on the official spelling of the Sligo seaside town of "Enniscrone/Inishcrone" , according to Minister Frank Feighin
He told Midwest News this evening that the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin has written to him informing him about developments with the Enniscrone/Inishcrone place name plebiscite issue which he has raised with her Department for some time.
He says she informed him in writing today that her Department officials have met with their legal advisors in November and December to discuss this issue, and that she is now awaiting this advice to decide how to proceed. She is expecting it "early in the New Year".
Minister Feighin told Midwest News that he now eagerly awaits the response and hopes the matter will be resolved once and for all.
